GOLDEN SERIES EXPEDITIONS 2008TIMOR-LESTE WORLD HERITAGE SURVEY, TIMOR-LESTE (East Timor)July 22-August 4 2008 - Kayaking, bird watching, trekking, cultural visits, snorkeling, caving
If you want remote tropical exploration, this is it. Most of
this trip is accessible only by boat, kayak, or foot. With only 700,000
people, terrible roads, and two year's history, Timor-Leste can do things
right - but it's a five year window before mass tourism moves in. We explore
the unexplored East End - an island marine park, lowland rainforest, crater
lake, and endangered bird reserve - and miles of never paddled coastlines -
as far from Dili and remote as it gets. Thanks to a Sustainable Development
class Caveman teaches for international tourism bureaucrats, his Timorese
students invited us to survey these natural resources and advise on their
future.
