Colugo (Flying Lemur) Cynocephalus variegates
Colugo (Flying Lemur) Cynocephalus variegates
Location: Kathu, Phuket, Thailand
This foot pad close-up gives a nice view of Colugo "wheels". Toenails between webbed feet are fish-hook sharp. The Colugo grabs every bit of air possible, hence the webbed feet. Any swimmer knows the difference between swimming with fingers open like a fork, and fingers closed together into the shape of a spoon. So does evolution. The footpad is partially covered by the large bushy tail that guides it in flight.
