| On our tour of Princessa Bay we never saw any floating rubbish. In more protected Phang Nga Bay, I collect two plastic trash bags of rubbish every day I'm on our Hong By Starlight trip – from just two of 160 islands. Princessa mangroves are perfect – not a candy wrapper hanging from a root, let alone a plastic bag.
On-site enforcement is non-existent. Of course, no Princessa land-dwellers throw rubbish in the Bay, but Mayor Ed explained that educating fishermen to the evils of dynamite, cyanide and illegal nets is foremost.
Baywatch staff told me the only time they came to this channel is when hosting “visiting foremen”. |
