Colugo (Flying Lemur) Cynocephalus
Colugo (Flying Lemur) Cynocephalus
Location: Kathu, Phuket, Thailand
Placing it in the banana tree served dual functions – pre-release tests showed the colugo enjoyed bananas, and if it wasn’t ready to glide yet, the colugo could nestle into the gaps between the banana stalk and its leaves where, hidden from sight, it can sleep safely during the day, and eat bananas at night. That luxury wasn’t necessary. After placing the colugo in the banana tree, I planned 15 minute checks throughout the night. By the time I returned for the first check, the colugo was gone already, hopefully gliding from the height of the mountain back to its beckoning family.
