PHILIPPINE CROCODILE Crocodylus mindorensis and Dentition
PHILIPPINE CROCODILE Crocodylus mindorensis and Dentition
Location: Puerto Princessa, Palawan, Philippines
This juvenile shows off its teeth, an opportunity to explain Dentition. Dental patterns are a common way of identifying wildlife species, and the “map” of dental patterns is “dentition”. Dentition is important in identifying the hundreds of bat species, many looking almost identical until you explore their Dentition.

Crocodylus mindorensis dentition is a pattern 5 + 13-14 / 15

There are five sets of pre-maxillary (on top in the front), 13-14 sets of maxillary (top in the back) and 15 sets of mandibular, the teeth on the lower jaw. This is a very simple dentition pattern, but of little consequence to the animals caught in the jaws.
