| Sometime durng your trip, perhaps around camp, you will see our "monkeys", Wild boar and mouse deer are bigger than crab eating macaques (Macaca fascicularis), but no other species dominates Thailand’s mangroves like these comical swimming primates. To paddle inside a family of macaques is like viewing a microcosm a cross-section of human society – totally transparent and in your face.
This curious juvenile is typical of risk-taking adolescent primates. Unafraid of the human risk, the teen-ager talked back to its parents while giving the humans a close-up look. |
