| Gliding silently deep in mangroves, distracted by neither human nor noise, is an eerie yet reverent feeling you just don't get while walking through a forest.
One of my favorite sightings surprised me as I paddled silent and solo in a bright red Scupper Pro. Rounding a mud bank, I caught a family of wild pigs crossing a channel meters before my bow, splash through the water, then scramble up the opposite bank. Intent on their travels, Papa, Mama and four babies never even noticed the Ling Yai close enough to smell them. Mouse deer and otter exotic sightings are rare, but just as spectacular.
