| The Hurricane Heroines survey Haka'a'ano beach, so protected in the summer that exiting the kayak is a simple step onto the beach.
Wintertime North swells pulverize the beach into smooth round rocks sloping up to the cliff, which contributes new stones with each winter swell. Papalaua Valley lurks in the background over the sea arch where Lloyd shot the upcoming Kikipua Rainbow. Junior Dudoit's fish camp lies out of frame to the left. We will exit stage down the coast. In the lee of Haka'a'ano, the seas will remain calm for at least 100 meters. Lloyd's trip was almost too flat, but for us the swells breaking on Kikipua told the story, but that's a Hurricane John story. |
